MR (Medium Rigid)

Any rigid vehicle over 8tonnes GVM with 2 axles. Any towed trailer must not weigh over 9 tonnes.

All vehicles in class LR may be driven on this licence.

To upgrade to this licence you must:

  • Have held a class C licence 12 months or more. (I.e. Class C P2)
  • Pay $39 to the Roads & Maritime Services for the Knowledge test
  • Pass the Roads & Maritime Services Truck Driver Knowledge Test for Class MR at any registry
  • Pass an eyesight test
  • Buy the logbook pack from the R&MS ($23)
  • Book a course with a R&MS accredited assessor
  • Upgrade your licence after successful completion of the course at a R&MS registry ($23)

The course usually takes 8 to 10hrs. Cost is $850.
