HC (Heavy Combination)

Any prime mover or rigid vehicle towing a trailer over 9 tonnes GVM. Includes all vehicles from Class LR to HR.

To upgrade to this licence you must:

  • Have held a class MR or HR for 12 months or more
  • Pay $39 to the Roads & Maritime Services for the Knowledge test
  • Pass the Roads & Maritime Services Truck Driver Knowledge Test for Class HC at any registry
  • Pass an eyesight test
  • Buy the logbook pack from the R&MS ($23)
  • Book a course with a R&MS accredited assessor
  • Upgrade your licence after successful completion of the course at a R&MS registry ($23)


Duration of this course is 12 - 16 hours depending on the learner's ability with the manual (Non synchro) gearbox.

Cost of training & assessment is $145.00 per hour
